Should you find yourself on the Sunnyside of Queens, follow the scent of that savory Central American sauce to De Mole, a Mexican restaurante sitting quietly in a residential corner of town. Locals generally keep this place to themselves and understandably so. Try the Mole Poblano heaped on top of Enchiladas de Pollo, tortas, or the vegetarian options.

Chinatown Flushing is gushin’ over a small noodle spot in a cuddled crevice of Golden Mall in Main Street. Try not to mind the appearance while climbing down the small steps and into the hallways to Xi’an Famous Foods. It’s authentic Chinese noodles with feverish flavor and an aromatic variety of spices that will make your taste buds howl. If you aren’t into the hearty Liang Pi noodles you can also try the lamb burgers, a heap of tender meat packin’ cumin laced heat, in soft thin bread. WARNING: Extremely hot and extremely satisfiying.
