Based on the majority of our reports one can assume that we’re a band of serious beer lovers. My particular taste is the American Craft Brew. With such a palette for small batch beers, it can run a pretty penny for the really rare stuff.
So in order to still enjoy the best of micro brews (especially in the recession) I seek to quench my appetite at my local supermarket.
My favorite is Fairway in Red Hook Brooklyn because they tend to keep a decent supply of the really tasty and hard to find brews than your everyday supermarket. I make it a point to buy as much of the top brews from Stone Brewing Company, Victory, Dogfishead and Rogue Ales as possible whenever I make the trip.

Mens Journal list top 5 beer towns. NYC comes in at number 2, with Brooklyn being noted for the best place for a pub crawl.
And we agree! Brooklyn is a great place to get almost any beer you desire (for a very wide selection, check out Bierkraft). But for the great beer and a good price, stick to the local brands. Here are list of local watering holes and beer brands to look out for:
Bars/Restaurants:
Park Slope Ale House – always has a good BluePoint on tap.
Applewood – Sixpoint (plus great food)
Barcade – Has an extensive beer list with lots of local favorites like Sixpoint, Bluepoint and Coney Island Craft Lagers
Levee – Pabst Blue Ribbon

Be sure to check out the Five Spot on Mondays to enjoy $2.00 pints. Also, get yourself a po’ boy!
